The man arrested for the murder of the right -wing activist Charlie Kirk is not cooperating with the authorities, but researchers are working to establish the reason for the shooting talking to his friends and family, Utah governor Spencer Cox said Sunday.

Cox indicated that the alleged author of the shooting, Tyler Robinson, 22, will be formally accused on Tuesday. It remains in custody in Utah.

Researchers still do not determine why Robinson allegedly climbed a roof at the University of the Utah Valley during an outdoor event and shot Kirk in the neck at a long distance on Wednesday.

Kirk, a faithful ally of President Donald Trump and co -founder of the Conservative Turning Point Usa student group, died of a single rifle shot during the event attended by 3,000 people in OREM, about 65 km south of Salt Lake City.

The murder fed the fears of an increase in political violence in the United States and an increasingly deep division between the left and the right. Robinson did not confess to the researchers, Cox declared the “This Week” program of ABC.

“He is not cooperating, but everyone around them were, and I think that is very important,” said the Republican governor.

A person who is apparently talking to the researchers is Robinson’s companion, who was also his sentimental partner, Cox said, citing the FBI. Cox described the apartment as “a man in transition to women” and said it was “incredibly cooperative.”

Reuters could not locate the roommate or their representatives to request statements.

When asked in the program

The researchers found messages recorded in four bullet caps, which included references to video games and jokes. A affidavit presented by the authorities in the case described these messages. One of the inscriptions, according to the affidavit, said: “Hey, fascist! Trapped!”, Followed by a combination of directional arrows, an apparent reference to a sequence of buttons pulsations that unleashes a pump in a popular video game.

Another bushing said: “If you read this, you are gay, hahaha”, abbreviation of “I start laughing.”

The rhetoric full of Kirk, which often included anti-LGBT and anti-immigrants comments, attracted legions of conservatives, but also generated strong feelings among generalized liberals and criticisms.

Robinson, third year student of the Electricity Learning Program at Dixie Technical College, part of the Utah public university system, was arrested at his parents’ house, about 420 km southwest of the crime scene, after 33 hours of search.

Researchers are looking for Kirk’s reason for murder

Family members and a family friend alerted the authorities that it had been involved in the crime, Cox said previously.

While Robinson was raised by religious parents in a deeply conservative region of the State, “his ideology was very different from that of his family,” Cox said Sunday in the “Meet the Press” program of the NBC, without going into details.

The state records show that Robinson was registered as a voter, but was not affiliated with any political party. A relative told the researchers that Robinson had become more political in recent years and that on one occasion he had spoken with another relative about his displeasure for Kirk and his points of view, according to the affidavit of the arrest warrant.

Robinson was not a supporter of Kirk, Cox declared Sunday.

The murder generated outrage among Kirk’s supporters and encouraged sentences to political violence throughout the ideological spectrum.

Trump blamed the radical left for Kirk’s death, despite the lack of evidence, even when he and his allies often resorted to a violent rhetoric against his opponents.

“The problem is on the left,” Trump told La Prensa on Sunday. “Many people who would traditionally be considered left … are already being investigated.”

The governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, a Democrat who suffered a fire caused in April, said Trump had the obligation to lower the temperature.

“Violence transcends partisan lines, and the way of addressing it and having a real peaceful debate is that leaders speak and act with moral clarity. That must begin with the president,” he said on social networks.

Cox attributed part of the guilt to social networks, stating that they have played a “direct role” in all the political murder attempts of recent years.

Trump attributed to Kirk the merit of promoting young voters to conservatism.

Its inflection point movement claims to have more than 800 sections in university campuses. Kirk’s widow said Friday that the efforts of the movement would continue.

An event in Kirk memory will take place on September 21 in Glendale, Arizona, said his organization.
