One of the life experiences that I will never forget is 5 years to plant a tree with my grandparents Hernández and during the years see an incredible pine grow in the city of Tijuana and then follow the tradition with my dear mother in her annual activities for children in the “Calafia” gardening club, in Ensenada.
In addition to the sense of environmental personal contribution, planting a tree is an action that transcends the simple activity of sowing; It is a act of responsibility and hope which has significant repercussions for the environment, economy and human well -being.

I present some key reasons why planting a tree is so important for our future:
Environmental benefits
Trees are essential for the health of our planet. They act as lungs of the Earth, absorbing carbon dioxide (CO2) and releasing oxygen. A single tree can absorb approximately 22 kilograms of CO2 per year, which helps mitigate the impact of climate change.
In addition, trees play a crucial role in reducing air pollution, when catching particles and pollutants, thus improving the quality of the air we breathe.
Water conservation
Trees help conserve water by reducing superficial runoff, which is the flow of water that, not being absorbed by the surface, moves on earth, so with the trees increases infiltration in the soil.
Its roots allow water to see more effectively, helping to recharge underground aquifers. In addition, trees cups create shadow, which reduces evaporation and maintains moisture on the ground, benefiting plants and surrounding ecosystems.
Effect on biodiversity
A single tree can house hundreds of species of flora and fauna. Planting them brings with it a series of benefits for biodiversity, providing habitats and food for birds, insects, mammals and other organisms.
Economic benefits
Trees also have a positive impact on the local economy. Planting them in urban areas can increase the value of properties and attract tourism. In addition, crops such as fruit and sustainable wood, where trees regeneration is guaranteed, provide valuable resources for the economy.
In many communities, fruit trees are an important source of food and livelihood.
Human well -being
Contact with nature, including trees cultivation, has psychological and emotional benefits. Studies have shown that urban vegetation reduces stress, improves mood and encourages a sense of community.
Trees offer spaces for recreation and recreation, promoting a more active and healthy lifestyle.
Education and Social Consciousness
Planting a tree is an opportunity to educate younger generations about the importance of sustainability and care of the environment.
Reforestation initiatives and school programs that involve community participations strengthen environmental awareness and motivate people to be more responsible in the care of our natural resources.
Some easy way to plant a tree in places where it is most needed:
- Organize a community planting day: brings together neighbors and friends for a planting event in a park or green area.
- Collaborate with schools: it involves students in reforestation projects in school or nearby land.
- Associate with an NGO and participate in reforestation programs: it works with local organizations that are dedicated to reforestation.
- Start a gardening club: forms a group in your community focused on the cultivation of trees and plants.

Promote planting on social networks: use your social networks to encourage others to plant trees.
- Create a network of volunteers: forms a group that is responsible for reforestation in your locality.
- Cultivate trees at home: sow trees in pots at home and then transplant them to public spaces.
Promote plantation in companies: it encourages companies to make sowing days for their collaborators.
- Create planting contests: to see who plant more trees in a month.
- Create a need map: Map of your community identifying areas that need trees.
- Use native trees: Promote the plantation of native species that best adapt to the environment.
Use technology to plan: Use applications and digital maps to improve the planning of the areas to be planting.
The action of planting a tree represents an investment in the future. Not only does our immediate environment improve, but also protect the planet for future generations.
Each sown tree is a step towards a healthier and more sustainable world. Therefore, it is essential to promote this practice and encourage others to join this vital effort.

At a time when climate change and environmental degradation are imminent threats, planting a tree is not only important, it is essential and spinal point for:
