The World Economic Forum announced that it initiated an investigation into its founder, Klaus Schwab, after a letter from a complainant who alleges misconduct by the former president.
The announcement occurred a day after Schwab, 87, said he resigned as president, with immediate effect, without giving any reason.
The Wall Street Journal, which first reported on the investigation, said that an anonymous letter sent last week to the Wef Board of Directors raised concerns about its governance and work culture, including accusations that the Schwab family mixed their personal issues with the resources of the forum without the appropriate supervision.
The World Economic Forum “these accusations are taken seriously, insists that they are still without demonstrating and will wait for the result of the investigation to make more comments,” he said in a statement sent by email to Reuters. He did not provide details about the accusations.

A Schwab family spokesman denied all the accusations of the complaint, according to the Wall Street Journal. The spokesman also told the Journal that Klaus Schwab intends to sue whoever behind the anonymous letter and anyone who disseminates these falsehoods.
Reuters could not immediately contact the Schwab family to request comments.
In recent years, Davos meeting of the World Economic Forum has received criticism from both the left and the right, considering it an elitist forum, oblivious to the life of common people. He has also received negative criticism about his internal culture.

The Journal previously reported that the Board of Directors of the World Economic Forum was working with a law firm to investigate the work culture, after the newspaper reported accusations of harassment and discrimination. The forum denied the accusations.
