The White House on Thursday rejected Elon Musk’s criticism to the fiscal plan of President Donald Trump while thanking the work done by the businessman at the head of the Government Efficiency Department (Doge, for its acronym in English).

The White House spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, declared in a press conference that Trump’s administration thanks Musk “her service” and rejected that the fiscal plan will increase the country’s budget deficit.

“We thank you for promoting Doge and your work on efforts to cut waste, fraud and abuse, which will continue,” he added.

Leavitt denied that Musk was right, after Tuesday the tycoon expressed his “disappointment” with the Trump fiscal plan known as ‘Great and beautiful bill’, which was approved by the House of Representatives last week and sent to the US Senate.

Leavitt insisted that, despite what was stated by Musk, the plan will save 1.6 billion dollars to public coffers and pointed out that “the president is very proud of the ‘great and beautiful bill’, and wants to see him approved. He wants the Senate to get to work on it and send it to his office as soon as possible.”

The White House spokeswoman also did not clarify whether Musk will be replaced in the front of Doge.

“Doge leaders are each and every one of the members of the president’s cabinet and the president himself, who is totally committed to eliminating waste, fraud and abuse of our government,” he said when he was asked about who will replace Musk at the head of the department.

On Tuesday, in an interview with the CBS television network, Musk declared: “Frankly, I was disappointed to see the huge bill of expenses, which increases the budget deficit, not only does not reduce it, and undermines the work that the Doge team is doing.”

A day later, on Wednesday, the businessman announced his departure from the government in his social network X with a message in which he also thanked Trump “the opportunity to reduce wastewhere.”
