The Attorney General of Baja California arrested Nabor “N”, representative of Bank Millennium.
The arrest occurred in Mexicali at 10:30 am, as a result of intelligence work of the State Research Agency.
The arrest warrant was issued by a control judge, after a complaint filed by the state government, which accuses the bank executive of the crime of abuse.
According to the authorities, the money held by Nabor “N” was labeled for the fulfillment of a contract with the New Energy company, promoted during the administration of former governor Jaime Bonilla Valdez. Although the solar plant was never built or had the necessary permits, it did imply public resources.
The Prosecutor’s Office said that this arrest represents a key step in the investigation into the failed energy project, in which state officials and other financial actors are also involved. The detainee will be presented to a control judge to define his legal status in the next few hours.
