Federal authorities arrested José Asunción Murguía Santiago, mayor of the municipality of Teuchitlán, where a group of search engines denounced in early March the discovery of an “extermination field” in a ranch allegedly drug trafficking.

Murguía Santiago was arrested due to his involvement in the activities carried out by the criminal organization Jalisco New Generation (CJNG) at the Izaguirre ranch, according to the authorities.

Previously sources from the Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico, which leaked the arrest to the media, indicated that this was fulfilled this Saturday afternoon by agents of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) of Mexico.

According to the information, Murguía Santiago, who emerged from the Citizen Movement Party (MC), was transferred to Mexico City by an arrest warrant fought against him.

Just last Tuesday, the prosecutor of Mexico, Alejandro Gertz Manero confirmed that the Izaguirre Rancho, in the municipality of Teuchitlán, was “a training field of the Jalisco Nueva Generación poster (CJNG)”, but said that “there is no evidence” that the place was used as a crematorium.

In his conference, Gertz Manero said that the FGR had “already totally proven that this was a center for recruitment, training and operation of the Jalisco New Generation poster (CJNG).”

However, Gertz indicated that “there is no evidence” that it would be used as a crematorium, in his appearance month and a half after his finding for a collective of relatives of disappeared from the state of Jalisco.

“There is not a single evidence that proves that saying (which was a crematorium),” said the prosecutor.

Gertz said that due to the doubts that existed that if the ranch could have functioned as a place of cremation of bodies, they were sent to an Earth laboratory, stones and construction materials to which expert analysis were made where “they did not find levels of heating up of 200 degrees.”

On March 8, the Jalisco Guerreros Relevanters collective denounced an alleged “extermination field” of drug trafficking after finding 400 pairs of shoes, although the Mexican government has identified it as a “training field” of that drug poster poster.

Gertz pointed out that there is a line of research that seeks to determine the existence of other possible “narcorrancos” and its relationship with that found in Jalisco.

The prosecutor also pointed out that they will analyze the garments found in the Izaguirre Rancho through genetic blood tests to determine if these objects belong to people reported as missing.

The case of the ranch in Teuchitlán has raised the pressure for the president, Claudia Sheinbaum, to meet the crisis of disappearances in Mexico, where there are more than 120,000 people not located since there is a record in the 1960s.
