Today the number of hotel rooms are more than approximately 61,500 and about 3,300 additional rooms are under construction, which may be ready before the World Cup, he said.

At the same time, work is being done at an infrastructure table with Alejandro Encinas Rodríguez, Secretary of Planning, Territorial Planning of the CDMX, to accelerate the hotel investment in Mexico City, he recalled.

The official revealed that Clara Brugada, head of government of Mexico City, requested that the CDMX brand will participate in all international tourism fairs such as Fitur, Bogotá and Berlin

“And in each fair the Mexico City is shown as metropolis three times a World Cup,” he said, after participating in the presentation of a study the economic impact of digital platforms in SMEs 2025 prepared by Airbnb and the Concanaco Servytur.

At the moment there are only advertising campaigns in Mexico City and the World Cup, but there is still a stronger deployment, he said.

The mobility plan for the FIFA World Cup is being worked on in 2026, which will be presented by the head of government of Mexico City, added Carlos Martínez Velázquez.

“Mexico City is ready to receive tourists, since there are enough hotel rooms and digital platforms are ready to house all visitors,” he said.

Currently, the Ministry of Tourism is preparing the guides and tourist routes to be delivered to travelers during the FIFA World Cup in 2026, since there will be 4 days of separation between each match.

By 2026 it is estimated that 5.5 million tourists will come to live the World Cup experience in Mexico City.
