Mexico City.- The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) determined that Javier “Chicharito” Hernández must receive an economic fine and a warning for his macho comments, in addition the Guadalajara club and the Puma sports brand repudiated the player’s recent behavior.

‘Chicharito’ has issued messages on social networks in which he promotes gender stereotypes, in which he ensures that women “end up masculinity” by not devoting themselves to home work. The footballer’s publications have generated an avalanche of criticism in social networks and media.

The FMF reported Wednesday that its gender and diversity commission initiated an investigation “that seeks to prevent and punish this type of behavior” and that in case of recidivism will take more severe measures.

Not directly mentioning ‘Chicharito’, Chivas indicated that his comments do not represent the values of the club, so he implemented internal measures in accordance with its regulations.

“As an institution with deep social responsibility, we firmly reject any behavior, posture or expression that reinforces stereotypes that limit freedom, respect and full development of all people, inside and out of sport,” the team said in their networks.

The Guadalajara Club regulations indicate that players are obliged to maintain exemplary behavior on and off the court. Serious infractions can be punished with fines up to 90% of monthly income or suspensions, according to the directive.

Chivas’s women’s team rejected any speech that affects equality and respect, and reaffirmed their commitment to gender equity inside and out of football.
