The construction of new phones will make Mexico City the metropolis of the world with the greatest mileage of this high public transport.
“We have a very important public transport system by cablezes in La Paz, Bolivia, with 10 lines, but in Mexico City it has much longer and more robust lines,” says Konstantinos PanagioTou, CEO of Doppelmayr Mexico.
“If it is not this year or next year, I believe that Mexico City will be the number one fate with more kilometers of urban cables in the world,” he says Forbes Mexico.

Today Latin America is the leader in use of the public transport cable car, so they are already visible and operate in Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil and Mexico, he says.
The growth of cities in Latin America is very fast and without planning, so there are many low -income people who build their house in the mountains, he expresses.
Given that “it is very difficult for any state and government to plan and make the infrastructure that is needed in colonies located in the mountains,” he says
“In Europe, it is much more expensive in the mountains to build a house or have a land to have in the flat part of the cities,” recalls the businessman.
Latin America is ahead that Europe or the United States in the use of urban cables to correct mobility problems in its large cities, recalls the company’s manager, says the company’s representative.
And all that started 15 years ago, when Medellín installed cablers to solve mobility problems with favelas, which are in the mountains of the Colombian city.
Before the lack of road infrastructure in Medellín they thought that the cableways could help, says Konstantinos Panagiotou.
“Medellín has 5 cablez lines connected to the Metro to provide public transport service to the colonies built in the mountains and in areas with a very fast growth and without infrastructure planning,” he says.
“The cable car began working very well in Medellín, which caused other governments of Latin America to see the means of transport to solve their traffic problems,” he says.
Then La Paz opted for the construction of cupcakes, which was visible by other governors, other heads of government or presidents to put this type of transport in the metropolis, he recounts.
The cable car moves more than 600 thousand passengers a day in La Paz Bolivia, but there is a different topography from Mexico City.

Peace has an altitude and uneven difference of 600 meters with the high, so the topography makes it very difficult to build a meter or metrobús.
The idea of a cable car in La Paz was to build a meter in the air, so it is interconnected between the lines, he expresses.
Today the Peace Cable Car works as a single means of public transport, when in Mexico City and other Metropolis of Latin America it is a metro and metrobus feeder.
Konstantinos PanagioTou says that when they built line 1 of the cablebus in Mexico City: “We thought that the number one reason for users to transport in the cable car was the decrease in time.”
But “the time decrease is the number 2 to use line 1 of the cablebus in Mexico City, since the number 1 is the security that the passenger feels being in this line 1”,
The feasibility study of Cablebús 1 showed that more than 28 thousand daily passengers would be transported in the first 4 years of operation.
However, “in its second year we are already with 50 thousand users and in the third year we are already mobilizing 70 thousand passengers a day”
The cablebus is the only transport system where passengers have their cell phone in their hand connected to the cabin Wi-Fi, chatting, watching internet or listening to music, as well as they do not suffer from the stops and with pleasant and quiet landscapes, without noise and nothing.
Cablebús also improves the quality of life of those living in areas of Mexico City, where the transport service operates
During the next 6 years, the Government of Mexico and the States will build other cable car lines to solve mobility and traffic reduction problems.
“Chiapas announced a line, Puebla announced another line, San Luis Potosí another line and even Durango,” he says. Also municipalities such as Uruapan are building a cable car.
The State of Mexico has operating a couple of cupcake lines in Ecatepec, as they are building a line in Naucalpan. Beyond Mexico, they see the meter for air as an option to improve mobility.
“We already have mobility problems on the other side of the Atlantic, in the case of Paris we are building the first public transport cable car in Europe,” adds Konstantines PanagioTou.

In an area on the outskirts of Paris, the need to use this type of projects to reduce traffic on roads and streets was seen, he exposes.
“Did she stop being as a tourist transport and became a mass transport system?”
—They lets themselves be a tourist transport, they are still cablezes for the mountains, for skiers or for tourists or to reach an archaeological zone. It is still one of the means of transport that is being used most in tourism. In the case of us, 60 percent of our sales still are still the skiers in the mountains of Europe, of Canada, the United States or southern America.
