A judge ordered a trial against Hernán Bermúdez Requena, former Fasco official and alleged leader of the La Barredora criminal group -vinculated to the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) -, who is being held in the maximum security prison El Altiplano, in the center of the country.
In a statement, the Tabasco Prosecutor’s Office reported that on Wednesday a control judge issued the decision against Bermúdez, aka grandfather or commander H, who would be responsible for crimes of criminal association, aggravated extortion and aggravated kidnapping.
According to the information, the hearing was held privately this Tuesday, and after the determination, the judge granted a period of three months for the closure of the complementary investigation.
“Given the seriousness of the imputed facts, the Public Prosecutor’s Office requested the precautionary measure of preventive detention, which was granted, so the subject will remain in seclusion while the criminal process against him develops,” said the bulletin.

Bermúdez Requena was Secretary of Security of Tabasco during the management of then Governor Adam Augusto López Hernández, who is now a senator for Morena, after having served as Secretary of the Interior with Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Bermúdez Requena is one of the alleged leaders of the Barredora, a criminal cell dedicated to crimes such as drug trafficking and extortion, linked to the CJNG, one of the six Mexican cartels that the United States designated as terrorists last February.
According to intelligence information, the former official would have had links with criminals since 1999 and a possible arrest in 2006 for the execution of a farmer.
On July 22, the Government of Mexico confirmed that it weighed an arrest warrant and interpol red card against the former Fasco official, who was investigated since 2024 for his links with organized crime.
President Claudia Sheinbaum said last week that all the information was being gathered to clarify the case of Bermúdez Requena, and pointed out that it will be the FGR that conducts the investigation to delve into its alleged links with organized crime and how it became involved with the CJNG.
On September 13, Bermúdez Requena was captured in a luxurious house in a closed neighborhood in the city of Mariano Roque Alonso, in Asunción, in Paraguay.
On Wednesday 17, the National Anti -Drug Secretariat of Paraguay showed images of the transfer of Bermúdez Requena dressed in an orange pole, with a bulletproof vest and guarded to the air terminal, where it was delivered to the Mexican immigration authorities.
According to the Paraguayan authorities, Bermúdez Requena intended to install its operations in that country, where it entered illegally from Brazil on an unclear date.
Despite the accusations against him, on Tuesday the president of Morena, Luisa María Mayor, said that Bermúdez Requena continues to be part of said political association and will not be expelled until there is a final sentence.
