The television networks ESPN and TUDN reported this Tuesday that Javier Aguirre, coach of the Mexican National Team, was hospitalized in Guadalajara a few hours before El Tri faced the United States in a friendly match.
The information indicates that the former Atlético de Madrid coach felt ill this Tuesday morning at the Mexican team’s concentration hotel, for which he was transferred to a hospital in the capital of Jalisco.
Studies were carried out at the clinic, but so far neither the Mexican Soccer Federation nor the Mexican National Team have issued official information on the ‘Vasco’ health status.
It is also unknown if Javier Aguirre, 65, will appear on the bench for the duel against the Americans, which will be played later on the night in Guadalajara.

The former Mallorca manager had his last public appearance last Monday, at the press conference prior to the match that is known as the ‘Concacaf classic’, due to the rivalry between these North American teams.
Javier Aguirre assumed the technical direction of Mexico last July, in his third stage in El Tri, and his management began with a victory against New Zealand and a draw against Canada in September.
In October, Javier Aguirre equalized against the Spanish Valencia, the previous Saturday, and had the duel against the United States, the last before he debuts with Mexico in the Concacaf Nations League, in November.
Javier Aguirre intends to lead Mexico in a World Cup for the third time in 2026, after doing so in 2002 and 2010, in which he qualified the nation to the round of 16.
In 2026, Mexico will be one of the three host countries, along with the United States and Canada.
