This, according to Alberto Cavia, CEO of the popcorn manufacturer ACT II, ​​who on the way to International Popcorn Day, on January 19, shared with us what the favorite flavor of this snack is in Mexico.

“The most consumed are butter popcorn, which is what we are used to eating at the movies,” he said in an interview.

In the case of ACT II, ​​Cavia revealed, the success has been that this snack manufacturer managed to transfer to the home that moment of consumption that began in movie theaters.

The second most popular flavor among Mexicans is the lemon chili variety, while the caramel variety would be the third most popular variety, according to the records of ACT II, ​​which leads the microwave popcorn market in Mexico.

As for the areas of the country where popcorn is consumed the most, CDMX, Monterrey and Guadalajara are in the lead, although the CEO of ACT II assures that the product they manufacture is present in almost half of all homes around the world. the country.

ACT II, ​​in addition to being the leader in the sale of microwave popcorn, is second in the ready-to-eat popcorn market.

The company manufactures in Irapuato, Guanajuato, the nearly 16 varieties that it markets in Mexico.

And to maintain its success, according to Alberto Cavia, ACT II has set out to launch a new flavor every year, a strategy that it will seek to maintain in 2025 for the third consecutive year.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, popcorn is a 100% Mexican product made with various varieties of popcorn that have been cultivated since pre-Hispanic times: toluqueño, chapalote, nal-tel, Chihuahua, Jalisco and arrocillo.
