One of Dallas’ most expensive homes has sold after almost $5 million worth of gradual price drops.

Computer engineer and entrepreneur Mark Haidar bought 4231 West Lawther Drive this summer when it was listed for $10.9 million, or about $1,200 per square foot, county records show. The seller of the White Rock Lake waterfront home, Darren Phillips, had originally listed the property in January of 2023 for $15.8 million and dropped the price several times since then.

The home’s nearest competitor is a landmark estate dubbed Mount Vernon, the former home of H.L. Hunt and the most expensive listing of July. The replica of George Washington’s home at 4009 West Lawther Drive has a price history similar to Haidar’s purchase, having wobbled between $30 million and $15 million under the same ownership since 2012.

Haidar co-founded the tech companies Dialexa, Vinli, Robin and Rosy, and he holds several patents. Born Mahmoud Haidar to a family of Lebanese refugees in Kuwait, he was selected in 2019 to be a Presidential Leadership Scholar, a collaborative recognition of the presidential centers of George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Lyndon B. Johnson. The younger Bush painted Haidar’s portrait for his book “Out of Many, One: Portraits of America’s Immigrants.”

Although the price threshold of ultra-luxury in Texas has risen considerably in the past few years, relistings have taken up a greater share of Texas ultra-luxury inventory in the latter half of 2025, and price cuts have become more common.

The three-story main house at 4231 West Law, meanwhile, includes five bedrooms, eight bathrooms and a 2,700-square-foot basement with two wine cellars. It shares almost four acres with an eight-car garage, horse stables, a guest house and a cabana overlooking White Rock Lake, the lake nearest Downtown Dallas.

Compass Real Estate agent Mark Godson had the listing when the property sold, though Frada Sandler of Dave Perry Miller was representing the seller in 2023, when it was the most expensive listing in Texas.
