Thomas Party, Ghanaian footballer of Arsenal, is accused of five positions of rape

The London Metropolitan Police announced Friday that Ghanaian footballer Thomas Party, who has just fulfilled contract with the Arsenal of the English Premier League, was accused of rape and sexual aggression.

Party is accused of five positions of rape and one of sexual aggression. The charges refer to three women and the crimes would have taken place between 2021 and 2022, according to the statement. It is planned to appear before the Court of Magistrates of Westminster on August 5.

In this regard, the chief prosecutor of the crown for northern London, Jaswant Narwal, said the accusation against Party has been authorized after a “careful investigation of the evidence collected.”

“Our officers have worked with the agents of the Metropolitan Police who have carried out the investigation to review the evidence and take the relevant measures. We remind everyone that while the criminal procedures are active, the defendant has the right to a fair trial. We know that this case will have an important public interest, but it is absolutely vital that there are no information or comments that may harm these procedures,” he said in statements.

The 32 -year -old footballer was signed by Arsenal from Atlético de Madrid for 50 million euros (59 million dollars) in October 2020 and became a key member of the first team of the London club.

He was first arrested in July 2022, although his name was not made public at that time and continued playing for the “gunners” while the investigations were ongoing.
