One of the families injured by the Interoceanic Train accident presented this Monday, before the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), a complaint for the “crime of injuries”, as well as a complaint for “abuse of authority” against the contractors responsible for the derailment that occurred on December 28 and caused the death of 14 people.
This first complaint was presented by the defense, without the physical presence of their clients – the family made up of Juan Manuel Iglesias, Flor del Carmen Temích and their son, Alexis Iglesias Temích – to “collaborate and support more information” to the investigation initiated by the FGR into this incident that took place in the state of Oaxaca.
“We present this complaint on behalf of the victims so that they can actively participate in the investigation,” lawyer Adrián Arellano told EFE.
In addition, he emphasized that the affected family sought legal support because “they do not want to forget this case” that “today is viral, but tomorrow, in a few months it will be forgotten and the representation will remain in a file” without “noticing what happened.”
In a phone call with the affected person, Juan Manuel Iglesias, he noted that this lawsuit is for “those officials who omitted their work and gave in to corruption.”
And he clarified that the result of this is that his family is injured in a hospital with a “lack of supplies and insensitive staff” towards the people who are still waiting for a response on the health status of the 11 victims who remain under medical surveillance.
“Your servant spent the night like a homeless person outside the hospital for two days (…) This lawsuit is to reach the ultimate consequences,” he concluded, highlighting that this accident caused his son an 18-point opening in his head, as well as an injury to his arm, for which he had to undergo surgery.
He also stated that he has a second-degree ankle injury and his wife, Flor del Carmen, a first-degree cervical injury.
The defense also told the media that, at this first moment and in accordance with the “irregularities” indicated – from 2019 to February 2025 – by the Superior Audit of the Federation (ASF), the complaint involves the alleged participation of “the main contractors”, which are Comsa Infraestructuras, Grupo Constructor Diamante and Daniferrotools.
