A beloved Tom Hardy movie is finding new success in 2026 on HBO Max.
Originally released in theaters on April 25, 20214, Locke is now surging on the streaming charts for HBO Max. According to FlixPatrol, the film is trending at #2 on the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned platform in Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, Poland, Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Moldova, Hungary, Montenegro, and Poland.
The Steven Knight-written and directed film is also holding the #3 spot for HBO Max in Slovakia, while sitting on #4 in the Czech Republic. This was one of the early Knight and Hardy collaborations, before the filmmaker’s Peaky Blinders.
Locke centers on the titular character of Ivan Locke, played by Hardy, with the entire film taking place in a car, with the protagonist seen doing multiple phone calls with people in his life. Knight’s 2014 entry has been defined as one of the best bottle movies of all time.
Grossing more than $5 million at the worldwide box office, Locke was reportedly produced on a $2 million budget. The film features the voices of Olivia Colman, Andrew Scott, Ben Daniels, Ruth Wilson, Bill Milner, and Tom Holland before his Spider-Man days.
Locke, which is available on Neflix for subscribers in the United States, has been defined as one of Hardy’s best movie roles of all time, as the film is currently sitting on 91% on the Critics’ Score on Rotten Tomatoes, while holding a 72% rating on the Popcornmeter. The timing of Knight’s 2014 movie surging couldn’t be better.
After the success of the original TV show, Knight’s Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is set to arrive on Netflix on March 20, with Cillian Murphy reprising the role of Thomas Shelby. Hardy appeared in Peaky Blinders as Alfie Solomons.
Catch Locke on HBO Max internationally and on Netflix in the United States.
