Toyota sold 10.8 million vehicles in 2024, said Thursday, staying as the world’s best -selling car manufacturer for the fifth consecutive year.
The Japanese car manufacturer recorded a 3.7% drop in the global sales of the group units last year, including those of the compact car manufacturer Daihatsu and the Hino Motors truck unit.
The decline was largely due to a strong drop in sales in Japan, where the automobile manufacturer faced consequences of governance problems on certification proof procedures, especially in Daihatsu.

The sales of the parental vehicles of Toyota, which include those of the homonym and lexus brands, fell 1.4% compared to the previous year in 2024 to 10.2 million vehicles due to a two -digit decrease in Japan.
Although Toyota sold a record number of cars in general, thanks in part to the demand for their hybrid vehicles in the United States, sales of units in China decreased 6.9% in the middle of a strong price competition in the main car market of the world.
