Donald Trump’s government said Tuesday that he was investigating whether CNN could be prosecuted for his report on an iPhone application that warns users about immigration and customs control agents in their area.
The cable news chain said that their reports were not illegal.
The Iceblock application is the third most popular free application in Apple’s application store in the United States. The interim director of ICE, Todd Lyons, told CNN that the free application could increase the risk of aggression to US agents.
The United States Secretary of National Security, Kristi Noem, talking together with President Donald Trump in a migrant arrest camp in Florida, said he is working with the Department of Justice to see if CNN can be prosecuted for informing about the telephone application.
“It’s fine for me,” Trump said, referring to CNN prosecution.

A CNN spokesman, who is owned by Warner Bros Discovery, said in a statement: “This is an application that is publicly available for any iPhone user who wants to download it. There is nothing illegal in informing about the existence of this or any other application, or said reports constitute a promotion or other support of the application by CNN.”
Apple representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
Noem accused CNN of interfering with police operations.
“What they are doing is actively encouraging people to avoid the activities and operations of application of the law,” Noem told journalists during the journey through the camp in Ochopee in the Everglades, without citing any specific law that CNN supposedly violated in his report.
