The president of the US, Donald Trump, announced Friday that he agreed in a phone call with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, to be seen at the summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) that is held in South Korea at the end of October and also visiting China in early 2026.
“We agreed with President XI that we would meet at the APEC summit in South Korea, which I would travel to China at the beginning of next year and that President XI, in turn, would visit the United States at an appropriate time,” Trump wrote today in a short message in his social network Truth Social.
The presidents of China and the US are not seen in person from a meeting on the banks of the G20 leaders summit in Japan, in June 2019, although at the start of the first mandate of the Republican, XI visited his residence from Mar to Lago and Trump traveled shortly after, in November 2017, China on a state visit.
A face to face between them could boost between the two greatest economies in the world, at a time when the two rivals are celebrating negotiation rounds to reach commercial matters, the supply and access of semiconductors or on traffic to EU of fentanyl, whose chemical precursors mainly come from China.

Called ‘Very productive: Trump
Trump described the “very productive” call and said that “advances in various important issues, such as trade, fentanyl, the need to end the war between Russia and Ukraine and the approval of the agreement on Tiktok” were achieved so that the popular short video platform can operate in the US.
Regarding the latter, Trump added that “I appreciate the approval about Tiktok”, although he did not give any specific data on the frame, already preacted at the meeting that representatives of Washington and Beijing celebrated this week in Madrid, or what Xi said specifically in this regard.
In the absence of details about the aforementioned Marco, the US President extended this week the deadline for the fourth time, until December 16, so that Tiktok can operate on US soil.
In 2024, the Congress established that for Tiktok not to be closed in the US, the company operating the application in the North American country must be detached enough from the Chinese matrix, Bytedance, especially in relation to the access that Beijing may have to servers to store user data.
The White House has said that Bytedance could have a small participation in the new operating society, which is believed to be headed by Oracle, Silver Lake and the Andreessen Horowitz risk capital fund.
