The offices of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in the city of Washington were sealed this Monday after the tycoon Elon Musk announced that the president, Donald Trump, has agreed to dismantle it.

The USAID workers received an email on Monday night urging them to stay at home, after during the weekend the agency’s website and their social networks accounts were deactivated.

“On the instructions of the agency’s address, the USAID headquarters in the Ronald Reagan building in Washington, DC will be closed for staff on Monday, February 3, 2025,” says the email.

“The personnel who normally work at the headquarters must work remotely tomorrow, except those with essential functions in the place or maintenance of the building, who will be contacted individually by the address. More details will be provided soon, ”he adds.

In the mail, sent from the agency’s “press” account, Gavin Kiger was copied, one of Musk’s allies.

The agency building was seized with yellow tape preventing the passage on Monday morning.
