President Donald Trump signed a decree for a review of the rules governing military teams, which seeks to facilitate US defense companies for the sale of their products abroad.
“We are unable to provide weapons systems in a reliable and effective way to our allies, and the key engine of that is the inefficiencies and inconsistencies with the process by which we approve military sales abroad,” said White House Advisor Will Scharf at the signature ceremony in the Oval Hall.

“So this decree (…) (seeks) to ensure that we can provide teams creating US jobs and obviously providing income to US defense manufacturers, but providing key military teams to our key allies in a reliable and effective way.”
Reuters reported on April 1 that Trump was planning to soften the rules governing military teams with a decree similar to the legislation proposed by Michael Waltz, his national security advisor, last year when he was a member of the House of Representatives.
The order could increase sales of great US defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin, RTX and Boeing.
Currently, the United States Weapons Export Control Law gives Congress the right to review weapons exports to other countries, depending on how close an allied country and the size of the planned sale.

During his first term, Trump often expressed his frustration with the members of Congress who delayed sales of abroad weapons for human rights reasons or other concerns.
Trump also signed on Wednesday a decree that launches a general review of acquisition programs in the Department of Defense.
