US President Donald Trump fired Coast Guard Commander Linda Lee Fagan, the first woman to lead one of the branches of the US Armed Forces.

According to Fox News, which reported the dismissal on Tuesday, the new Government’s decision is due to an “erosion of trust” in Fagan due to issues related to border security or recruitment.

Trump’s dismissal was due to misogynism

Fagan, according to Fox News, made diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies a priority, the same ones that the new Trump Executive has proposed to end.

The technology magnate Elon Musk, very close to Trump, referred precisely to these policies in a publication on X dedicated to Fagan.

“Compromising the U.S. military and border security to spend money on racist and sexist DEI nonsense is no longer acceptable,” he said.

Fagan was appointed commander of the Coast Guard in 2022 by then-president Joe Biden (2021-2025).
