“Rest in peace, Pope Francis! God bless him and all who loved him!” Says the writing.
Trump and Jorge Bergoglio maintained some dialectical disagreements from the first presidency of the New York (2017-2021), mainly on account of the issue of immigration, with the Pope criticizing the plans of the US president to build a wall on the border with Mexico or on his mass deportation project implemented in his second term, which started in January.

For his part, Obama said in his text that Francisco “took us out of our complacency and reminded us that we are all subject to moral obligations towards God and others” and said of him that he was one of those “few leaders who made us want to be better people.”

The first of the members of the current US government to react publicly was Vice President JD Vance, who is visiting India and who was also one of the last people to meet with the Pope.
