President Donald Trump said Monday that the United States is establishing a priority appointment scheduling system for foreigners with tickets to next year’s World Cup games being played in the country.

“I have directed my Administration to do everything in its power to make the 2026 World Cup an unprecedented success,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office when announcing the new scheduling system.

He said soccer games could bring in $30 billion to the United States and generate about 200,000 jobs.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the State Department would continue to screen all travelers but had added 400 consular officers to deal with increased demand for visas.

The 2026 World Cup will be played in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
