The president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, assured this Thursday that the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, is a “winner” and said that he will try to attend the Club World Cup that will be held in 2025 in his country.

“They are led by a man named Gianni, I only know him as Gianni. “He is a winner, he is the president, and I am also president, and we have known each other for a long time,” Trump said in a video shown during the draw for the Club World Cup, held today in Miami.

“The FIFA Club World Cup is now underway with the official draw and I just want to wish everyone to enjoy the event, which will be incredible. I’ll try to be there if I can. I would love it,” said Trump, who will take office on January 20.

The Republican assured that soccer is a sport “that has really conquered the United States” and that it is growing “by leaps and bounds.”

“My son Barron is a big football fan. In fact, he is a good player, although not at that level, but very good. “He loves football,” Trump said.

Finally, the president-elect also referred to the 2026 World Cup, which the United States co-organizes with Canada and Mexico.

“We are going to be watching the World Cup very soon, which is also very important. “I had a big role, along with Gianni, in making this happen, and it will be fantastic,” he said.

The first edition of the new FIFA Club World Cup will be played from June 15 to July 13, 2025 with the participation of 32 teams from five continents. In total, 63 games will be played in 12 different venues in the United States.
