The US president, Donald Trump, said Friday that Washington could achieve a possible agreement on nuclear weapons with Iran “very, very soon”, just hours after ensuring that he had sent a letter to Tehran urging to negotiate.
“We have a situation with Iran and something will happen very soon, very, very soon,” Trump explained in an appearance before the press in the Oval Office, where he added that they only remain “the last brushstrokes” to achieve an agreement and that “there will be interesting days ahead.”
“With luck we can have a peace agreement, I do not speak from a position of strength or weakness. I just say that I prefer to see a peace agreement than another (the military option), although the other will solve the problem, ”added the president, pointing out that Washington cannot“ allow them to have a nuclear weapon ”, in reference to the Ayatolas regime.
Trump said he would have reached an agreement quickly with Tehran if he had won the 2020 presidential ones – which he was calling again “rigged” – and held his predecessor, Joe Biden, who labeled “very stupid person”, of allowing to enrich themselves after withdrawing the sanctions to the country.

The statements arrive hours after the US president himself said in an interview in Fox Business who had written a letter to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Jameneí, in which, he said, threatened to intervene militarily if the Islamic Republic did not open to negotiate.
In any case, the Iranian mission before the UN, cited by the Irna state agency, said shortly after no writing from the president of the United States.
In 2018, during his first term, Trump decided to withdraw his country from the so -called Comprehensive Comprehensive Action Plan, a pact to stop Tehran nuclear advances agreed by the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, Iran, the European Union (EU) and Germany in 2015.
