Tom Homan, the future “border czar” of the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, declared this Monday that he will give priority to the deportation of immigrants who are illegally in the country and pose a threat to security.
Trump, who will take office in January, said in a social media post overnight that the former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in his first administration will be in charge. the country’s borders in its new government as of January 20.
The president-elect made the fight against illegal immigration the centerpiece of his campaign, promising mass deportations.
He is expected to mobilize agencies across the government to help him deport a record number of immigrants in an operation that his incoming vice president says could expel a million people a year.

Homan will seek to obtain support from border security forces
“Threats to public safety and national security will be the priority (…) they represent the greatest danger to this country,” Homan told Fox News in an interview.
In a post on his Truth Social platform late Sunday, Trump said Homan will be “in charge of our nation’s borders (‘border czar’), including, but not limited to, the southern border, the northern border, all maritime and aviation security”, including the deportation of immigrants in an illegal situation.
Immigrant advocates warned that Trump’s deportation effort would be costly, divisive and inhumane, leading to family separations and devastating communities.
Homan, a frequent speaker on Fox News who was often praised by Trump during the campaign and who campaigned for him, also indicated that he would like to have the cooperation of local law enforcement: “We are going to get the job done with or without you”.
