The changes that US President Donald Trump seeks to apply and that will economically and socially impact Mexico are an opportunity for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and the entrepreneurs who lead them, according to experts from the online store platform Tiendanube. .

The day before, upon returning to a second term, President Donald Trump said that starting February 1 he could apply a 25% tariff on imports from Mexico.

“Changes such as closing the borders, and making it more difficult to ship from here to there, what they will generate is that they will strengthen the internal market,” said Juan Martin Vignart, Country Manager of the platform.

“It seems that the macroeconomic context is telling us to focus on Mexico, and to think about the 120 million inhabitants in the country,” he said in a meeting with media representatives.

Tiendanube has been operating in Mexico since 2020, while in 2024 the stores installed on its platform registered a 55% growth in the number of transactions.

By 2025, Tiendanube expects that electronic commerce in Mexico and the region will continue to evolve.
