Members of the Mexican security forces arrested two fugitives of American nationality in Sinaloa who were wanted by Washington authorities for various crimes related to drug trafficking.

The two detainees, Joshua ‘N’ and Raymond ‘N’, 40 and 43 years old, respectively, are brothers and are wanted by the authorities of the state of Montana, who accuse them of the crimes of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, possession of a submachine gun in a violent crime linked to drugs and violation of parole, the Mexican Security Cabinet reported in a statement.

The agency highlighted that these arrests were possible thanks to the exchange of information with the United States Marshals Service, within the framework of “binational cooperation to detain persons required by law.”

The agents located them while carrying out a security tour, in an operation that included the participation of the Secretariat of National Defense (Defense), the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the National Guard (GN), the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) and the National Migration Institute (INM).

After their arrest, they were taken to the INM for the “corresponding procedures” before being taken to the US authorities.

“With these actions, the institutions that make up the Security Cabinet reaffirm their commitment to detain people required by authorities from other countries,” the information note concluded.

This announcement comes just a few hours after the head of SSPC, Omar García Harfuch, notified of the transfer to the United States of 37 prisoners from different penitentiary centers in the country considered “a real threat to security” due to their alleged links with criminal organizations.

In this transfer, the third of this type to occur under the government of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, there were people such as Ricardo González Sauceda, alias El Ricky, regional leader of the Northwest Cartel, according to security sources informed EFE.

Also notable is Pedro Inzunza Noriega, alias El Señor de la Silla, father of Pedro Inzunza Coronel, second in command of the Beltrán Leyva Cartel, or Juan Pablo Bastidas, alias Payo Zurita, logistics operator of the Beltrán Leyva, both moved to San Diego, California.

The delivery was made amid growing pressure from US President Donald Trump, who has insisted that Mexico is not doing enough to combat drug trafficking cartels.

A week ago, Trump reiterated his threat of ground attacks with organized crime organizations in Mexico, something that was forcefully rejected by Sheinbaum in a call between both leaders.
