The University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) must pay more than six million dollars to resolve a lawsuit filed by three Jewish students and a professor of the institution for allowing a protest in favor of Palestine.

The agreement requires that UCLA pay the plaintiffs a amount of 6.13 million dollars, including damages, and accepts a final sentence and a permanent judicial order that prevents the educational center from facilitating efforts to exclude students and Jewish professors from the campus, reported in a brief the querrellante part, the Becket legal institution.

Each plaintiff will receive $ 50,000, while another 2.3 million will be donated to eight organizations that work with Jewish communities and another 230,000 will go to an UCLA initiative to combat anti -Semitism, the Los Angeles Times newspaper said.

The agreement, in force for the next 15 years, is waiting for its approval by the federal district judge Mark C. Scarsi, supervisor of the case.

The demand derives from the Protal Camp that was installed on the UCLA campus for several days in 2024, with the protesters demanding that the university stop investing in companies linked to the Israel War in Gaza.

These protests resulted in confrontations with the security forces and the arrest of hundreds of students who opposed resistance to the authorities after breaking into the camp for their eviction.
