The Association of Aviation Pilots of Mexico (ASPA) this Monday ruled out the strike scheduled at Aeroméxico for the first minute of Tuesday, after the majority of the airline’s pilots approved a labor proposal.
After negotiations with the company, the union leadership presented the pilots with a draft salary and contractual review agreement that provides for an increase of 7.5% directly in salary, and more than 12.5% in other items inherent to the contract.
“The agreement was generally approved by the majority of pilots attending the General Assembly, which ruled out the strike scheduled for the first minute of October 8,” ASPA said in a statement.
He added that in accordance with the process and times established by the law, in the next 10 days the agreement will be made available to the 1,491 pilots for their analysis, and then be taken for consultation at the polls, where each pilot will vote in favor or in against.
“At ASPA de México we trust in the internal democratic processes that we have carried out for years and in which the pilots’ decisions have always been respected,” the association highlighted.
The union recognized the work of the labor and judicial authorities that intervened in the process and thanked other unions and passengers for their support.
Aeroméxico assured in a statement that with the agreement it remains the firm that provides the best working conditions in the country’s aviation sector, and recognized the work of ASPA.
