This weekend of September, the CDMX becomes an epicenter of cultural and entertainment activities for all tastes with a series of artistic exhibitions, events for lovers of literature and theater, and even a concert for Dragon Ball fans that will be some of the things to enjoy.

Independent Book Fair
With more than 20 guest authors, the Fair of the Independent Book 2025 promises to be once again an alternative cultural space for lovers of literature and music.
With their literary program led by a series of independent publishers that will bring a diverse catalog for attendees looking for readings out of the conventional, and each one will bring special guests.

Dragon Ball live symphonic
Fans of the famous anime can enjoy the first Symphonic concert of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z that arrives at the CDMX this weekend, taking them on a tour of the most recognized musical themes in the series.
In charge of more than 80 musicians on stage, this concert will have several surprises, among which the presentation of Anison Hironobu Kageyama, official interpreter of the songs of Dragon Ball Z, with the musician Luis de Lille and the soprano Irma Flores.

32nd International University Theater Festival (FITU)
For theater fans, UNAM will celebrate scenic art this weekend with this festival that is part of the Ibero -American Year of the Performing Arts 2025, promoted under the slogan “Scenes of Diversity”, so it will feature 22 countries such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Portugal, which will give recognition to acts of theater, dance, circus and other arts.
Beyond being a sample of works, the Fitu will also serve as a space for creation and thought, where art works as a tool to imagine other possible worlds.

Exhibitions that you will not want to lose in CDMX
Miguel Covarrubias: A look without borders
This exhibition of the most multifaceted Mexican artist of the twentieth century shows his plastic talent, the interest in understanding the place that art occupies in the modern world, the systematic employment of industrial media and materials, which combined with humor, gives rise to a unique series of works.
With 453 pieces from 38 national and 13 international collections, this event allows the minds of Covarrubias to appear, offering a general panorama of the various creative facets in which he ventured, with the purpose of recognizing the central place that he must occupy in the history of Mexican art.

Pilar Calvo: Trace and color crossings
With about 40 pieces, between oils, drawings, porcelain, photographs and printed, this exhibition seeks to make visible the work of one of the most prominent Mexican painters, since it developed a realistic language of great expressiveness thanks to the implementation of figurative works away from the artistic avant -garde of their time and a high domain in the management of drawing and color.
The exhibition also includes a space for reflection on the way in which the criticism of its time received the work of Calvo, as well as the ways in which the artistic production made by women is observed today.

World Press Photo 2025
The most important international photojournalism contest in the world arrives one more year to Mexico, and this weekend will begin so you can appreciate a series of photographs that seek to address a variety of issues such as political, cultural, social and climatic conflicts.
With 42 winning works composing the exhibition, highlighting the Mexican presence by having a photograph of Musuk Nolte, who won in the Stories category with a documentary series about the extreme drought in the Amazon.

Eugenio Landesio: the lessons of art (last weeks)
This exhibition, which brings together more than 50 works by Eugenio Landesio gives a look towards the art that marked the founder of the Mexican landscape school.
With the purpose of reviewing the legacy of the Italian artist, who was also a landscape and perspective painting teacher, the sample focuses on the development of the pictorial trade in Mexico during the nineteenth century, addressing Landesio’s pedagogical proposal.
The exhibition includes works by José María Velasco, Károly Markó “El Viejo”, Luis Coto, Gregorio Dumaine and others, from the museum’s collection and public and private collections of various parts of the country.

Jorge González Camarena: unfinished utopia (last weeks)
This exhibition that will take place in the Siqueiros, Camarena, Orozco and Tamayo rooms, pay tribute to the outstanding Jalisco artist 45 years after his death.
The exhibition consists of easel paintings, sculptures, sketches and documents that guide the viewer through the life of González Camarena, in turn showing us his artistic evolution.
With more than 100 pieces, this exhibition travels from its first Mesoamerican influences to its characteristic geometric style, so one of the many works that stands out is the mural “Liberation”, a central piece that you will not want to lose yourself.

The spell: the last rites
The last installment of the famous horror saga reaches cinemas this weekend to conclude the history of the Warren, being a story based on one of the most difficult cases of paranormal researchers.
This new film, directed by Michael Chaves and starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farminga, this story will now tell the demonic phenomena suffered by the Smurl family in Pennsylvania.
