Venezuela and Brazil advocate the “immediate” end of the “aggressions” of the United States against Latin America and the Caribbean, Venezuelan Chancellor, Yván Gil on Wednesday, after a phone call with his Brazilian counterpart, Mauro Vieira.

Through social networks, the Chavista minister said that he presented “in detail” during the conversation “the aggression plans faced by Venezuela and all of Latin America and the Caribbean, with the presence of military ships and even a nuclear submarine” deployed, according to Caracas, for the US.

Gil said that it is a “ever seen threat” in the region and an “open violation of the peace zone proclaimed by the CELAC (community of Latin American and Caribbean states) in 2014 and the Tlatelolco Treaty of 1967”.

“We agree that these aggressions must be arrested immediately,” he said.

For his part, Vieira, according to the Venezuelan Chancellor, presented “the situation facing Brazil in the face of measures and tariff wars applied for political purposes”, in reference to the crisis unleashed by the hard sanctions of the Donald Trump administration, whose tariffs of 50 % on a good part of the Brazilian products are in force since last August 6.

Trump sanctioned Brazil, the largest Latin American economy, in retaliation for an alleged “witch hunt” against the Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, who will be tried from September 2 in the Supreme Court for a coup attempt.

For the Venezuelan minister, this is “a form of unjustified aggression that also does not contribute to the spirit of peace and cooperation” that, he added, defends in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Caracas also lives a new voltage episode with Washington, which says it is prepared to “use all its power” to stop the “drug flow” towards its territory, which includes a deployment of US ships in waters near Venezuela.

The Trump administration also doubled 50 million dollars the reward for information that leads to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro, whom he accuses of “violating United States laws on narcotics.”

Regarding the deployment, the Maduro government, through its permanent mission to the UN, warned Tuesday that EU plans to send “a launching cruise” and “a nuclear submarine of rapid attack” to the Venezuelan coast next week, among other “warships”.

This, according to Venezuela, represents “a serious threat to regional peace and security”, as well as a violation of the Tlatelolco Treaty, which declared Latin America and the Caribbean as nuclear weapons free zones.
