The Vice President of Brazil, Geraldo Alckmin, traveled to Mexico on Tuesday at the head of a large business delegation with the aim of expanding the bilateral commercial relationship, in the midst of the tariff war unleashed by the United States.
Alckmin, who is also Minister of Industry and Commerce, will participate in the Mexican capital in forums that will bring together some 250 businessmen from both countries and will be received next Thursday by the president Claudia Sheinbaum, who coordinated the visit together with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
These contacts are part of the initiatives of both governments to expand and diversify their commercial operations and counteract the effects of Donald Trump’s tariff war.
The commercial exchange between Brazil and Mexico, the largest economies in Latin America, reached 13,600 million dollars last year, with a favorable balance to Brazil, whose exports to Mexico added 7,800 minions of dollars.
“Mexico is an important partner of Brazil and this visit will be a strategic opportunity to deepen political dialogue and, above all, open new trade fronts and investments,” Alckmin said before embarking.
