Mexico City.- Ignacio Caride resigned his positions as executive president and general director of Walmart of Mexico and Central America.
The retailer did not specify the reasons for the departure, effective as of Friday.
“We are very proud of everything we have achieved together and we thank you for the way in which the Omnicanal Purchase experience for our customers and partners has improved,” he said in a statement sent to the Mexican Stock Exchange.

He explained that since April 2024 Ignacio Caride and his team led the Walmart operations of Mexico and Central America in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Nicaragua.
Caride also presented his resignation as a member of the Walmart Board of Directors of Mexico.
The company reported that its Council approved the appointment of Cristian Barrientos Pozo, president and CEO of Walmart Chile, as an interim leader of Walmart of Mexico and Central America while the recruitment process is completed.
He added that Guilherme Loureiro will continue in his position as supervisor of Mexico, Central America, Canada and Chile, and will give the necessary support during the transition.

Cristian, whose position as provisional counselor was also approved, had served as senior vice president of operations for Walmart Mexico.
The firm indicated that after creating and leading the Superbodega brand it accounts for more than five years, in 2012 Cristian joined Walmart Mexico as Vice President of Operations of Bodega Aurrera, and then be appointed senior vice president of the three formats of Bodega Aurrera, accelerating the expansion of the brand together with the development of new business prototypes.
In 2017 he held the position of general director for Central America.
