A range of imported appliances, including dishwasher, washing machines, refrigerators and more, will be subject to tariffs extended to the steel of President Donald Trump from the end of this month, according to a notice published Thursday.
The tariffs, which are currently 50% for most countries, would take effect in an additional range of “products derived from steel” on June 23, the trade department said on the notice.
It is the second time since Trump initially increased tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, first 25% from March and then 50% this month, which its administration has expanded the list of derived products affected by import taxes.
Just before the entry into force of the first round of tariffs in March, almost 300 categories of products were added to the list of tariffs, from horseshoes to excavator shovels.

This time eight product lines were added: combined refrigerators; small and large dryers; washing machines; dishwasher; horizontal and vertical freezers; kitchens, stoves and ovens; Food waste crushers, and welded wire grilles.
“The tax tariff (…) will apply to these products derived by the value of the steel content of each product,” said the publication of the Federal Registry.
