A pair of neighboring waterfront properties spanning more than 13 acres set a new record for the tony Connecticut enclave of Westport.

Together, the Beachside Avenue plots sold for $45 million, according to listing agent Leslie Clarke of Compass. The sellers, former commodity trader Andrew Bentley and his wife Fiona Garland, built the sprawling waterfront home on 120-122 Beachside Avenue and commissioned a 75-foot pool on the neighboring property, along with a contemporary barn.

One of the properties was previously owned by TV personality Phil Donahue and his wife, actress Marlo Thomas, which Bentley and Garland bought for $20 million in 2013. They purchased the other for another $20 million in 2010, according to property records.

Another of the famous couple’s former properties, at 114 Beachside Avenue, held the previous price record for the area when it sold for $25 million in 2006.

Spanning over 11,000 square feet and sitting on over six acres, the mansion at 120-122 Beachside Avenue originally hit the market alone in 2020, asking $28 million. After popping on and off the market over the next several years, it returned at the start of this year asking $25 million.

The home has five bedrooms, six bathrooms and a four-car garage.

Clarke said that combining the properties presented a “unique opportunity for the buyer to have almost 14 acres that couldn’t have happened anywhere else.”

Bentley and Garland appear to be trying to liquidate their holdings on the exclusive stretch of road running along the Long Island Sound. The pair also listed the former properties of disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein for $21 million in 2023.

Those properties, at 26 and 28 Beachside Avenue, sold for over $17 million combined in separate but related transactions, according to Clarke. Bentley and Garland bought them for $16 million in 2018.
