Mexico “has a strategy” and “we are not worried, we are busy” following the announcements by US President Donald Trump about the measures he will adopt on the border shared by both countries, the Secretary of Tourism, Josefina, said this Monday in Madrid. Rodriguez.

The Ministry of Tourism referred to the “Mexico Plan”, an economic development initiative that also includes “receiving our compatriots” and a “migration strategy” and that involves the entire Government of Claudia Sheinbaum.

“The welfare programs are well structured that will allow them (Mexicans returning to the country) to be inserted into the formal economy,” added the minister.

“There is a strategy and we are all involved,” he insisted at a press conference in Madrid to present Mexico’s participation in Fitur.

Trump declaration for Mexico

At his inauguration, Trump declared a “national emergency” on the border with Mexico and through several decrees issued a series of executive orders in order to fulfill his promises to militarize the border, prohibit the entry of migrants and asylum seekers, and deport to the more than 11 million people who live in the United States without legal status.

The minister trusted that tourism will remain as a “bridge of peace and balance” with the United States, its first source market.

In addition, Mexico, the United States and Canada will jointly celebrate the 2026 World Cup and “we will continue working,” Rodríguez insisted.

“We will work consistently to continue calling Americans to continue visiting Mexico,” he said.
