The original stars of Scary Movie, Anna Faris and Regina Hall, will return to the franchise for their sixth delivery next year, confirmed writer Marlon Wayans on Friday, this being the first addition to the franchise of almost one billion dollars in more than a decade.

Both will meet for Scary Movie 6, which will be released on June 12, 2026, and will be the first time in 18 years that the creators of the franchise, the Marlon Wayans brothers, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans, will write an original script together.

The Wayans brothers, who also had papers in the first two films, Faris and Hall are the only actors confirmed so far, but has circulated the rumor that Chris Elliott, who achieved television fame in Schitt’s Creek, could also return.

The Scary Movie franchise is a series of parodies of horror films that reached great popularity in the early 2000s and raised 429 million dollars nationwide and 818 million dollars globally between 2000 and 2006.

Faris and Hall played the characters Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks, respectively, in the first four films of Parody Scary Movie from 2000 to 2006. Cindy, based on Sidney Prescott of Scream and Julie by I Know What You Did Last Summer, is the main character of the franchise, and Meeks, based on Karla de I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and Maureen De Scream 2, is her best friend. Meeks was killed in Scary Movie and Scary Movie 3, but returned in later films without explanation. The first movie parody mainly Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, but also takes elements of The Exorcist, The Shining, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The Sixth Sense and other films.
