Cadillac Formula 1 Team will debut in the highest category of sports motor racing this year with Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas.
The American team is backed by General Motors (GM) and Global TWG and wants to become a “full works team” before the decade ends, that is, manufacturing both the car and the motor unit. It will be the first new team to join the grill since 2016, according to FIA.
Since its announcement in January 2023, GM has followed a strategy to reposition Cadillac as a global reference of innovation, especially in automotive technology, electrification and software. Mark Reuss, president of GM, said that Formula 1 is the ideal platform to demonstrate its engineering leadership.
The operation was structured in alliance with TWG Global, which in November 2024 assumed total project control after tensions with Andretti Global. Dan Towriss was appointed CEO of Twg Motorsports, and Michael Andretti remains as an advisor, while Mario Andretti, world champion in 1978, joined as a director in the Board of Directors.
In the operational plane, the team already has technical centers in Indiana, North Carolina, Michigan and Silverstone (United Kingdom), where they work in aerodynamics, chassis development, simulation and software, according to information from the team.
In addition, GM Performance Power Units LLC was created, based in Concord (North Carolina), to develop Cadillac engines, although initially it will be competed with Ferrari units to have a motor plant.

Regarding technical leadership, Graeme Lowdon was appointed as the main team, accompanied by experiences with experience such as Nick Chester (technical director), John Mcquilliam (design), Jon Tomlinson (aerodynamics) and veteran Pat Symonds as executive advisor.
TWG Motorsports was constituted in 2024 as a new Global Twg division, under the tutelage of figures such as Mark Walter (Co-Chairman) and Dan Towriss as CEO.
This movement represents a strategic bet for GM: beyond global visibility, F1 will work as an innovation laboratory, where developed technologies – from electric mobility to high -performance software – can adapt to future street vehicles.
