Long before becoming a known name, and before starting to have multiple children with several single women, Elon Musk was a married man.

His first marriage, with Canadian novelist Justine Wilson Musk, lasted eight years, from 2000 to 2008. During that time, Justine gave him six children, the first of whom he died tragically when he was a baby, followed by twins and thunderstorms.

But although Elon is now the richest person in the world, Justine is just a millionaire: he has about 15 million dollars, according to estimates forbes or around 1/24,000 of the current fortune of 364,000 million dollars of Elon.

In many ways, his management by Justine gave Elon a model of how to treat all mothers (at least four to date) of his desired “legion” of children, which now has 14 acquaintances. Musk offered Ashley St. Clair, mother of one of her children, $ 15 million and $ 100,000 a month in exchange for her silence about the child, which they called Romulus, and quickly withdrew the offer after St. Clair made public that Musk was the father, according to the Wall Street Journal Earlier this week.

Although Elon has recently resorted to X to propose women, according to the Journal, he met his first old wife: at Queen’s University of Ontario, Canada, when both studied there until Musk transferred to the Wharton school of the University of Pennsylvania to finish his career. They resumed their appointments in the mid -90s, when Justine moved to Silicon Valley and lived with Elon in an apartment they shared with floormates, while he was engaged in developing the Zip2 software company, which he founded in 1995 with his brother Kimbal and a friend, Greg Kouri.

In 1999, Elon and his co -founders sold Zip2 to Compaq for about 300 million dollars, of which Elon packed about 20 million. He bought a condominium of 1800 square feet in Palo Alto and spent a million dollars in a McLaren F1 Deportivo, which CNN filmed being delivered to Elon’s house in 1999 with Justine by his side. “It’s a million dollars for a car. It is decadent,” Justine told CNN at that time. “My fear is that we become spoiled children, who lost appreciation and perspective.” (Musk later destroyed the car).

Why Elon Musk’s first wife is not even close to being a multimillionaire

Elon and Justine married the following year and, for 2002, they moved to Los Angeles, where he founded Spacex. Two years later, he invested in Tesla and joined the Board of Directors. In just four years, between 2002 and 2006, Justine had six children. He also dedicated himself to his passion for creative writing, publishing three fiction books between 2005 and 2008. Elon asked for divorce at the end of the spring of 2008, a few months before becoming an executive director of Tesla (and four years before his debut in the list Forbes of the multimillionaires of the world in 2012, with a net worth of 2000 million dollars), and six weeks before committing to his next wife.

During the divorce process, Justine wrote that he asked Elon for his home, the maintenance of his children, 10% of his shares of Tesla, 5% of his spacex shares, 6 million dollars and a Tesla Roadster blue glacier. If he had received all that, today he would have a patrimony of 17.3 billion dollars, according to Forbes enough to turn it into the 113st richest person on the planet. It is a marked contrast with how two other super -rich divorces occurred: Jeff Bezos gave his former Mackenzie Scott a quarter of his then 16% participation in the Giant of the Electronic Commerce Amazon in his divorce of 2019, with a value of 36,000 million dollars at that time; Bill Gates’s 2021 divorce agreement with Melinda French Gates was not made public, but Forbes He estimates that she received $ 25,000 million from her then fortune estimated at $ 124 billion.

On the other hand, according to Elon, he offered Justine an agreement of 80 million dollars before taxes, which she rejected, preferring the shares of Tesla and a participation in Spacex, an intelligent decision since both were in their early stages. He did not get either and ended up receiving much less than his original offer.

The main reason: he signed a post -upcial agreement in March 2000. During the divorce process in 2010, he wrote in Marie Claire about the firm: “I trusted my husband – why would I have not married to him? – And I told myself that I didn’t matter. We were twin souls. We would never divorce. Only later he understood the content of the agreement. “I had renounced all my rights as married, including any right to marital property, except our house, which would happen to my name once we had a child.”

Justine sued Elon in 2008, challenging the validity of the post -upcial agreement, since Elon had not revealed the pending fusion between his payment company X.com (which should not be confused with its social media platform X) and another paying company, Confinity. After this merger, the company changed its name to PayPal and sold two years later to EBAY for 1.5 billion dollars in shares; Musk’s estimated profit was at least 100 million. The litigation lasted for two years, cost Elon at least 4 million dollars in legal expenses and concluded with a judge’s ruling in his favor.

After all that, according to Elon, Justine received 20 million dollars after taxes: half corresponded to the value of his house in Bel Air and the other half would be paid in monthly installments of $ 20,000 for clothing, shoes and essential items, in addition to payments to cover “all the expenses of the house and anything related to the children,” Elon wrote. (There is no information about the Roadster).

But he did not get 10 million dollars from the house. Property records show that Justine sold the 600 square meter mansion in April 2011 for 6.5 million dollars. A month later, he bought a 450 square meter house in Los Angeles for 4.3 million dollars. That house is now worth more than 8 million dollars. Meanwhile, the almost 2 million dollars he obtained from the sale of Bel Air’s house could be worth more than 6.5 million dollars if he had invested most of the stock market. Neither Justine nor an Elon spokesman responded to the requests for comments from Forbes .

Shortly after requesting Justine’s divorce, Musk met the British actress Talulah Riley. They soon fell in love. “Everything happened very fast. We were committed to the two weeks of meeting,” Riley said in 2018 during a report 60 minutes About Musk. “I was 22 years old. I was lovely and, without a doubt, a very interesting and eccentric person.” Musk was married to Riley twice: from 2010 to 2012 and from 2013 to 2016. They had no children, but, it is said, she received a sum similar to that of Justine for the two combined divorces. In 2022, Riley called him “the perfect ex -husband” and “a great friend.”

He has not remarried, but maintained a long relationship with singer Grimes, with whom he has three children, and has been spending time with the executive of Neuralink, Shivon Zilis, with whom he has four children, as part of his plan to repopulate the planet. According to him Journal Zilis lives in a closed complex in Texas where Musk intended to reside all his descendants and mothers.

Justine Musk has maintained a relatively low profile since his divorce. He published a story in 2016 and had a blog for a while. It can be said for sure that he does not agree with his ex in regards to Donald Trump. “Choosing a man as president of the United States, despite having a recognized history of sexual harassment of women and having been convicted of sexual aggression and defamation in a court, seems the very definition of the culture of rape. I only say it,” he tweeted in January 2024. “There is always something deeply ironic in which a powerful white man complains about being the object of a witch hunt,” he published a day later. Justine has not tweeted in more than a year.

Presumably, Justine is not excited about how Elon treats Vivian Jenna Wilson, one of the twins, who is now a transgender woman and who Elon has publicly ridiculed, together with the trans community in general. “She supports my transition a lot,” Vivian said about her mother in an interview with Teen Vogue In March. “When I told him it was gay, he pretended to be slightly surprised for 30 seconds and then said: ‘Yes, honey. Ok.” And his father? “He didn’t support me as much as my mother.”

Wilson, 20, told the magazine that he has been economically independent of his father since he declared herself Trans in 2020. As for his legion of brothers, Vivian joked: «I will say that I do not really know how many brothers I have, if I include my half brothers. It’s just a curiosity. It is very useful for two truths and a lie. I learned about Shivon Zilis at the same time as everyone else. I had no idea before that ».

There are great possibilities that there are even more Musk children out there, or at least there is more on their way.
