Four years after winning the gold bear for ‘An unfortunate dust’, the Romanian Radu Jude returned to the Berlinale competition with ‘Kontinental’25’, a film shot with an iPhone and in just ten days, which mixes fiction and documentary elements.
The filmmaker wanted to return to the spirit of the Lumiere brothers and thought how they would roll if they did not have a camera. That took a very simple staging to a phone, with fixed plans, he explained on Wednesday at a press conference.

The film was inspired by something that happened years ago and that is real. That idea was around in his head for years until he found the structure to tell it – “with the help of Rossellini,” he confessed – and did so mixing the fiction of the story with many plans of buildings in documentary style, which provide fluidity and poetry To the movie.
Jude sought to show the guilt of women -interpreted by Eszter Tompa -a Hungarian who lives in Romania, which also brings a social side to history, which develops in a city of Transylvania.
It does so from the point of view that it is really out of place due to the situation that surrounds it, with much more serious problems than yours.
