CHARLOTTE — Wooden Robot Brewery is closed Tuesday amid an ongoing investigation after a deadly fall at the South End location, officials said.

The popular Charlotte brewery posted on Instagram that Dan Wade, one of the founders and co-owners, died from an accident. MEDIC confirmed someone died from a fall at the brewery on Tuesday.
We ask that you respect the privacy of his loved ones in this incredibly difficult time. We are all still in shock and need time to process everything, but we will do our best to keep everyone in the loop for when we open up our taprooms again.
Wooden Robot posted:
âIt is with an extremely sad and heavy heart that we share this news. Due to an accident that occurred today, we lost one of our founders, co-owners, and friend, Dan.
Your thoughts and prayers for Danâs family, his wife, and his son are much appreciated at this time.â
Through a Facebook post, they announced both its taprooms are closed.
âBeing somewhere where we frequent, hearing about this, I donât know how to feel,â customer Mehdi Oroji said. âItâs a strange feeling.â
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed with Channel 9 that there is an ongoing investigation at the brewery.
Channel 9 saw CMPD crime scene investigators there.
âItâs a tough situation, especially something you built up yourself, then that occurred like that,â Oroji said. âItâs unfortunate.â
The brewery has another location in NoDa, which was also closed Tuesday.
The Occupational Safety and Health Division released this statement: âThe OSH Division was notified by CMPD this afternoon of an accident at that location. A compliance officer has been assigned to begin investigating the report.â
