Manhattan’s luxury market saw high-dollar deals last week as it continued its fall busy streak.

The Woolworth Mansion, an Upper East Side townhouse at 4 East 80th Street, found a buyer after asking $49.5 million, The Real Deal previously reported. The property was the most expensive to nab a contract between Oct. 27 and Nov. 2, according to Olshan Realty, and led another strong week for the borough’s high-end market.

The period was the third in a row where the borough saw 30 or more contracts signed for properties asking $4 million or more, despite warnings of a slowdown from doomsayers predicting the impending New York City mayoral election would deter buyers.

Built in 1915, the 35-foot-wide, 7-story limestone property has nine bedrooms, 11 and a half bathrooms, three kitchens and an elevator across 20,000 square feet.

The late fitness mogul Lucille Roberts and her husband, commercial real estate investor Bob Roberts, paid the Young Men’s Philanthropic League $6 million for the home in 1995 before embarking on a renovation.

The property, designed by Charles P.H. Gilbert, is the most expensive townhouse to enter contract since another at 973 Fifth Avenue snagged a buyer in February.

The Roberts family initially listed the property in 2011 for $90 million before pulling it off the market two years later. It later rented in 2021 with a monthly rate of $80,000.

The Modlin Group’s Adam Modlin represented the sellers.

The second most expensive property to snag a signed contract last week was the 28th-floor unit at 50 Central Park South, otherwise known as the Ritz-Carlton.

Listed in September and last asking $29 million, the full-floor unit spans 6,800 square feet, and has four bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms.

The seller purchased the unit, the main rooms of which comprise 102 feet overlooking Central Park, in July 2005 for just over $17.5 million.

Carol Staab with Sotheby’s International held the listing.

Sheridan Wall contributed reporting.
