The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) activated this Thursday a new platform to promote small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the tourism sector.

According to the council, the initiative, which is free to subscribe, will help SMEs accelerate the growth of their business.

Also, he said, through this platform, small organizations will be able to be heard at a global level.

The presentation of the initiative was made during the council’s 24th Global Summit, held in Australia.

The platform was named “Together in Travel”.

“After subscribing, small organizations will access a wealth of content, networking opportunities and educational programs,” WTTC explained.

Speaking at the annual summit, Julia Simpson, President and CEO of WTTC, said: “SMEs are a cornerstone of the travel and tourism sector, providing services to customers, creating innovative new companies and providing knowledge. local to the largest partners.”

The global tourism body is forecasting a record year for travel and tourism in 2024, with the sector’s global economic contribution reaching an all-time high of $11.1 billion.

Likewise, it is estimated that 80% of the global tourism sector is made up of SMEs.
