If you’re jealous of the new colors of the AirPods Max but don’t think the switch from Apple’s proprietary Lightning port to USB-C is reason enough to upgrade, you can now buy replacements ear cushions in new colorways that are still compatible with the original version of the headphones, as MacRumors discovered.
Apple still sells replacement ear cushions that match the colors of the original Lightning version of AirPods Max, including green, silver, black, sky blue, and red. However, the Lightning version of the actual headphones appears to be discontinued in Apple’s online store. The only option for buying AirPods Max through Apple right now is the new USB-C version in five new colorways.
