YouTube presented on Tuesday a series of new artificial intelligence functions (AI) to “empower the creativity” of YouTubers, which will help them edit, generate content, fold voices, learn more about their own channel and earn more money.
The company’s executive director, Neal Mohan, said Tuesday in the event ‘Made on YouTube’ that the ads are based on the idea that “AI must be at the service of human creativity.”
“We develop tools that offer creators new ways of telling their stories and the spectators new ways of discovering them. And, what is equally important, we rely on our career of responsibility to respect copyright, which provide creators the protections and controls they need to prosper in the new AI era,” Mohan noted from New York, where the annual event was held.
Among the new tools are several IA editors that can transform the material recorded into “a first draft” with the cut files, organized in “a consistent story” with music, transitions and voiceover in English or Hindi; to an AI that is capable of generating short vertical videos from long horizontal videos or even generating automatic dubbing with lip synchronization.
Creators can play with AI to create more surreal content, such as transforming the dialogue of a clip into a song, making a static body capable of dancing or adding in a clip an object – of a simple pencil to a terrifying monster – with Google’s AI, I see 3.
Mohan noted that the content generated with AI must respect the platform policies and indicate to the users that was altered.
YouTube will also launch tools to ask analytical questions about the performance of its published content, such as the Chatbot Ask Studio, with which youtubers can, for example, request that you summarize the comments and give ideas for upcoming videos based on these data.
YouTube paid 100,000 million dollars to creators in four years
Mohan stressed that YouTube, who turned this year two decades, paid more than 100,000 million dollars to creators, artists and media companies in the last four years – from January 2021 to December 2024 – and that its objective is to generate more money for the creators in the next twenty years.
In that sense, the content platform said today that the new functions of AI will also help creators better monetize their content. For example, creators will have the option of adding multiple collaborators to a single video depending on the country in which the ad is seen or even changing the announcement after the publication.
Another tool that will help to make more profitability to the content will be an AI labeling function, which can automatically find and label eligible products mentioned in videos, based on images, voiceover and information provided by the creator of the video.
Most news announced today will be released first in the United States; Some will be available in a while, while others will come to light next year.
