Yucatan and Semar Government signed agreement for expansion and modernization of the port of progress

In a transcendental act for the economic development of Yucatán, the State Government and the Secretary of the Navy (Semar) signed the long -term agreement for the expansion and modernization of the port of progress. The ceremony was headed by Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena and the head of the Semar, Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles, who highlighted the importance of this agreement to strengthen the port infrastructure and competitiveness of the State.

The agreement establishes the bases of collaboration between the SEMAR, the state government and the administration of the National Port System (ASIPONA) of the port of Progreso, with the aim of consolidating Yucatan as a strategic point in international trade. The modernization of the port will allow the arrival of greater draft vessels, increasing the operational capacity and facilitating new investment opportunities.

Díaz Mena stressed that this work represents a key transformation for the Yucatecan economy: “This agreement not only represents a great opportunity for our port, but is also a testimony of the shared commitment by the federal and state governments in the impulse of the infrastructure that will allow Yucatan to move towards new goals in international trade and the generation of jobs,” he said.

Mayan Renaissance

In addition, the president stressed that the project is part of the Mayan Renaissance, which seeks to modernize the infrastructure of the State without losing their cultural identity. With this extension, Yucatán will reinforce its position as a key logistics node in the Mexican southeast and strengthen its global connectivity.

They accompanied the governor in this historic firm, the Admiral Secretary Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles, head of the Semar, who expressed his enthusiasm for the impact that this project will have on the national port development.

“The expansion and modernization of the port of Progreso will consolidate its operational capacity, favoring commercial exchange and positioning Yucatan as a key reference in international maritime trade,” he said.

For his part, Admiral Felipe Solano Armenta, director of the Assipona of the Port of Progreso, highlighted his institution’s commitment to guarantee the operational efficiency and infrastructure necessary for the sustained growth of the port.
