Yucatán drives cruise tourism as part of the Mayan Renaissance

With the aim of promoting cruise tourism in Yucatán, the Government of the Mayan Renaissance, headed by Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena, participates through the Secretariat of Tourist Development (Sefotur) in intense work agenda in the Seatrade Cruise Global 2025 of Miami, Florida.

Considered the leading of the travel shipping industry, it brings together more than 1,500 executives of cruise lines, from 70 brands and providers of tourist services from different parts of the world.

Yucatan is part of the Ports stand in Mexico, together with Chiapas, Jalisco and the company Maritime Prosement Services (MPS). On this occasion, the Secretariat of Economy and Labor of Yucatán (Sety) and the administration of the National Port (Asipona) system of Progreso also participate, in order to promote the project to expand the port of progress height.

The Seatrade Cruise Global concentrates the main shipping lines, destination ports, suppliers and technology and sustainability companies related to the use of the most important cruises in the world. Its objective is to generate business, update in trends in the cruise tourism market and generate opportunities for participants.

The head of the Sefotur, Darío Flota Ocampo, accompanied by the head of the Sety, Ermilo Barrera Novelo; The Undersecretary of Sustainable Tourism Development, Raúl Paz Noriega, and the Port Authorities, attends an agenda of strategic meetings, including with the consul of Mexico in Miami, Rutilio Escandón, and with Michele Paige and Adam CESERANO, general director and president of the Florida Cruise Association, respectively.

Similarly, appointments are carried out with senior managers and representatives of industry leaders such as Royal Caribbean Group, The World, Residences AT Sea, Carnival Cruise Line, Global Port Holding, Florida Caribbean Cruise, Ritz Carlton Yacht, Magaritaville AT Sea, Oceania cruises with Norwegian Cruise Line, Silversea Cruises and Windstar Cruises.

During the meetings, proposals were raised to increase the arrival to progress and economic spill derived from the visit of the cruise members. This year it is planned to receive 158 cruises representing more than 400 thousand tourists via maritime.

At the start of the event, the Yucatan delegation visited the port of Miami and was part of the program of activities of the Alliance of Professional Cruise Advisors (CPAA). On this occasion, Mayor Progreso, Erik Rihani González also participated in the events.

To this exhibition that takes place from April 7 to 10, representatives of ports and destinations attend, as well as companies of construction, design, security, technology, entertainment, health, environment, hotel and concessions of the international shipping industry.
