Z-A Free Download Gets An Official Update

Pokémon Legends Z-A is an interesting experiment, and its sales may dictate where the Legends subfranchise goes from here. But until we start talking about the future of Legends, we need to close the book on Z-A completely.

As shared on X by Pokerapidinfo, we now have a bit more insight into a key missing feature for Pokémon Legends Z-A. It’s sorely missedand didn’t arrive with the Mega Dimensions DLC launch.

Pokémon Home Still Isn’t Available For Z-A

But We’re Slowly Getting More Info

Somehow, Pokémon Legends Z-A doesn’t have Pokémon Home support yet. For reference, it took roughly four months for the feature to hit Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Z-A’s closest analog. We’re already about four months into the launch of Z-A, so we’re due.

Before that day comes, we’re getting another proviso about its functionality. So here’s where we stand. The official response right now is that Pokémon Legends Z-A and Pokémon Champions (the upcoming battle app that was supposed to be out by now) will not link directly. Instead, you’ll need to deposit Pokémon from Z-A in Home, then transfer them to Champions. It’s an extra step, but it still technically works.

The kicker? Pokémon Legends Z-A is “scheduled to link [with Home] in 2026.” So as of this week, things are still on track. However, there will be some rules and regulations surrounding the Home functionality:

“Pokémon you befriend in Z-A cannot be taken to previous Pokémon games. Even if you have befriended a Pokémon in previous Pokémon games, once you bring it to Pokémon Legends Z-A, you will no longer be able to bring it back to previous Pokémon games.”

That was announced back when it was confirmed Z-A would be getting Home support, but it’s still something to keep in mind when the functionality does hit.

Will We Get A Pokémon Day Update?

It’s Taking A While

Delta Old-Fashioned Donut Finished

Fans are already speculating that we’ll get more info dropped on us all at once during the Pokémon Day stream in February, including a Pokémon Legends Z-A Home update. With any luck, we’ll get a shadow drop for Pokémon Home functionality, which essentially closes the chapter on Z-A as a whole.

Ideally, we get one last hurrah for Z-A in addition to Home, like a potential Mystery Gift event. We’ve already gotten several of them, including a marquee event for Mewtwo, where you discover the legendary Pokémon in an underground lab. The team has a chance to do something really special to send off Z-A.

If you’re still playing Pokémon Legends Z-A and are frustrated with the inability to transfer your Pokémon out of the game, you aren’t alone. If we only have a week or so for that functionality to drop, so be it, but any longer will likely rile up fans.
